Free & Reduced Price Lunch Application


Free and Reduced-Price Meals are available to families who believe they may qualify. If your family chooses to apply please complete an ONLINE Free and Reduced Meal Price Application Form.  For a paper application, please visit any of the offices at James Logan, or the main cafeteria.  (Please note that the processing time for paper application is longer than the online form.)

Please note that a new meal application must be submitted at the beginning of each school year.

Parent Connect / Q

Parent Connect (also called Zangle or Q) is our web portal designed to give you more access to your student's educational information - grades, attendance, transcript, discipline, etc.  In order for you to access your student's information, you must complete a short activation process to ensure we have up-to-date information for your account.

California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) Testing Program

The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) is the assessment system that replaces the Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) testing program.  Our district will be participating in the CAASPP this spring.  The primary purpose of the CAASPP assessment system is to assist teachers, administrators, pupils and their parents by promoting high-quality teaching and learning through the use of a variety of assessment approaches and item types.  Please see this handout (English & Spanish) with more details.


Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF)

Local Control & Accountability Plan (LCAP)

The State of California is changing the way it funds public education allowing school districts, like New Haven Unified, to better serve our high-needs students. This new funding system is called the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) and the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP).  Click here to read more about LCFF on the California Department of Education website.

The Local Control and Accountability Plan or LCAP is a critical part of California’s new Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). It is a three-year, district-level plan that is updated annually. The plan describes the school district’s key goals for students as well as the specific actions (with expenditures) the district will take to achieve the goals and the means (metrics) used to measure progress.

The LCAP addresses the needs of all students, including specific student groups, and all districts must specifically address English learners, foster youth, and low-income students. In addition, the LCAP must address the state of California's eight priority areas that include student academic achievement, school climate, student access to a broad curriculum, and parent engagement.

Bullying Complaint

James Logan High School is a safe place for all students.  Any form of harassment or bullying is not permitted.  Furthermore, Seth's Law (AB 9) allows for specific guidelines for schools in California to follow when addressing instances of bullying.  Please see below bullying complaint forms that can be submitted to an administrator.

Parent Directions for Emergency Situations

Do you know what steps to follow in case of a catastrophic emergency?  Or how to get hold of your student should there be a natural disaster?

Please read the Directions for Emergency Situations for details on steps you should follow during any emergency situation.  Please contact your student's House Principal for details.  

California Assembly Bill 1266

(AB-1266 Pupil rights: sex-segregated school programs and activities)

The New Haven Unified School District believes all pupils and staff have the right to participate fully in the educational process, free from discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying. Each school in the district has an affirmative obligation to combat all forms of bias and a responsibility to provide an equal educational opportunity for all.  

On August 12, 2013, Governor Brown signed into law California Assembly Bill 1266.  This piece of legislation allows students to participate in sex-segregated school programs and activities, including athletic teams and competitions, and use facilities consistent with the student’s gender identity, irrespective of the gender listed on the pupil’s records.  In short, students shall have access to the locker room and restroom facilities that corresponds to their gender identity asserted at school.  This piece of legislation is effective January 1, 2014.

Restroom Accessibility:
Where available, a “gender neutral” restroom may be used by any student who desires increased privacy, regardless of the underlying reason. The use of such a “gender neutral” restroom shall be a matter of choice for a student and no student shall be compelled to use such restroom.
If the student feels that there is a reason or desire for increased privacy and safety, regardless of the underlying purpose or cause, the administrator is to provide the student with access to a reasonable alternative restroom such as a single stall “gender neutral” restroom or the health office restroom.

Locker Room Accessibility:
Schools may provide a student access to a locker room facility that corresponds to the gender identity that the student asserts at school considering the available accommodation and the needs and privacy concerns of all students involved.
If there is a reason or request for increased privacy and safety, regardless of the underlying reason, any student may be provided access to a reasonable alternative locker room such as:

  1. Use of a private area in the public area of the locker room facility (i.e., a nearby restroom stall with a door, an area separated by a curtain, or a P.E. instructor’s office in the locker room).
  2. A separate changing schedule (either utilizing the locker room before or after the other students).
  3. Use of a nearby private area (i.e., a nearby restroom or a health office restroom).

If you believe this policy may apply to your student, please encourage your student to identify and confide in a trusted adult on campus who can advocate and support him or her in developing a plan that meets your student’s needs.
