CLUBS  

  • Come to BSU (Black Student Union) meets today after school at 3:45 in Room 529.  All students are welcome.

  •  The Youth Alive Christian Club meets today after school in Room 418.  Bible Study is every Friday during both lunches.

  • Remember to bring your testing ticket and current ID when taking the SAT or ACT tests.  Current ID can be a Driver's License, State ID, Passport or School ID.  School ID must be the actual ID (not a photocopy), and it must be the current school year.

  • Summer School applications are now available in each office.  Summer school starts June 19 runs through July 17 The New Haven Pilipino American Society for Education is proud to announce our annual scholarships for 2016-17.  These scholarships were established to support students of Filipino and Filipino-American descent, and their college endeavors. There are several scholarships available, each with different criteria, so come check out which ones fit you! Seniors can pick up an application from the House 3 office. The deadline to submit is March 24. 

  • Mecha is collecting cereal for the next two weeks to help fill the Kid Zone pantry to help feed the displaced families in Union City.  See Ms. Esquivez for more information.  You can drop off cereal to any of the following classes 407, 403, 444, 447, 503, 507, 201, or 209. 

  • Time is running out to purchase your yearbook! Please come to room 223 during your lunch Monday, Wednesday or Friday! We will also be at the student window every Friday during your lunch. Prices are $85 with ASB $95 without.

  • New Haven Adult School is offering 28 hours of Driver's Education during Spring Break, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday , April  3rd, 4th & 5th. Cost is $125. Registration forms are located in the front office and each of the house offices. For more information or to register call the Adult School at (510) 489-2185.

  • Sunday, four Logan Students represented the school at the Regional Science Bowl Tournament.  Science Bowl is a quiz-bowl style event sponsored by the US Department of Energy.  Team members were Kristina La, Sophia Li, Elizabeth Lin Prachi Pati.  Although our final numbers would not show it, they performed wonderfully, missing out on winning two of their five matches by a single question.  We also received compliments from the judges, all staff at Sandia National Laboratories, for fielding a team that was all girls.  They were greatly encouraged to see them pursuing their interest in science. Please take a moment to congratulate these students if you see them.

  •  Congratulations to the boys wrestling team for placing 2nd as a team at the NCS wrestling championships  this past weekend. Logan had 7 medalist overall. They are, Aaron Perez-2nd, Joey Ainsworth-2nd, Manavjot Singh-3rd, Lazaro Carrasco-3rd. These four boys will continue on this weekend at the state meet in Bakersfield. Other medalist were Jeremiah Uribe-4th, Noah Mohapatra-4th, Devin Garcia-7th.

  • The girls had a strong showing at State Meet this past weekend in Visalia placing 9th in the state as a team. Logan

  • Today at the Computer Science Club meeting after school, Riya Arora will give an introduction to solving problems for programming competitions.  Riya is a top competitor in the USA Computing Olympiad, and has a lot of knowledge to share. It will happen in Room 475 at 3:30 p.m.

  • The boys took 3rd at the NCS team Dual Championships while the girls placed 2nd at the NCS Girls Championships. Congratulations to NCS Champions - An Vo, Julie Tran, Nguyet Tran, and Emily Sandoval. The four girls won their weight division and qualified to the CIF Girls State Meet in Visalia on February 24 & 25.

SPORTS

  • Good luck to the Logan Girls Wrestling Friday and Saturday at the North Coast Section Championships. The lady grapplers are trying to win their 5th consecutive NCS title. The top three finisher will qualify to the State meet in Visalia.

  •  Congratulations to the Varsity, JV and Girls wrestling team as they beat American on Wednesday night. The Varsity won 60-15, the JV won 55-12, and the girls won 30-0. The Colts won their 11th consecutive MVAL Title.

  • The varsity boys also qualified to Saturday's NCS Team Dual Championships in Berkeley.

  •  District African American Advisory (DAAA) to Host Zumba Fundraiser Mark your calendars!  DAAA will host a Zumba Night to raise money for the Dream Scholarship tonight, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Itliong-Vera Cruz Middle School (Multipurpose Room).  Join former Logan Teacher, Jacki Sprague and fellow instructors for an exciting event!  $10 cash at the door.  If you are unable to attend the event, you can still support the students with a donation using the New Haven Foundation PayPal (please specify "The Dream Scholarship").  Thank you in advance for the support.
