CLUB

  •   Photo Club members - Those interested in getting involved in organizing photography club, there is a meeting after school this Wednesday (September 15), after school in Room 89.  Again, all photo club leadership should attend a meeting on Wednesday after school in Room 89.

  •  James Logan’s Mindful Monday Meditation Practice will be today during 4th period lunch at 11:45 in Room 207, and during 5th period lunch at 12:50 in Room 228. All who would like to be more present, more healthy, and just plain happier are welcome.

  • PSAT will be given to all 10th graders on October 14. There is no charge for 10th graders to take the test. However if you are a 11th grader there is a $25 fee to take the test.  You can purchase tickets online or at the student window. If you have any questions, see Ms. Hull in House 2.

  • Students, if you have had a change in schedule, please make sure to return your textbooks for the classes you are no longer enrolled in.  As teachers begin new units and lessons, we are in need of textbooks and novels.  Please help by returning your books that you no longer need.

  • If there were a magic pill that enabled you to do all of the following, would you take it? Reduce your stress and aging, increase your metabolism, immunity and attention span, enable you to sleep better and not only be more joyful, but make everyone around you happier….Well, there is no such magic pill, but there is such a powerful practice: Meditation. Beginning on Monday, September 12th, you can participate in Mindful Mondays during lunch, and learn how to meditate. Stay tuned for more details later in the week. 

  • Would you like to know why students do not often graduate from High School?  Come and either be a part of or volunteer at UC Exceed: A GradNation Summit this September 24, 2016 at Conley Caraballo High School from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. There will be free food and drinks, Child care provided, and a Career Fair. For everybody who attends this great event will be able to get community service hours for being there. We also have a Great and Talented Key Note speaker coming to present at this fabulous event that Union City Kids' Zone and a group of Logan Students are going to be putting on together. If you would like to know more information about it, register to attend, or would like to volunteer for this Great Event see Mrs. Martin the Kids' Zone Family Assistant in the Main office for more information or how to sign up or Volunteer! Again, the GradNation Summit is on Sept 24.

  • Attention Off-Campus ROP Students. Tomorrow is the first day of Fremont MVROP classes. If you are taking a morning class be sure you get yourself there by 7:25am and if your an afternoon student classes start at 1:00 pm. You may want to ride the ROP bus in which case you'll meet up everyday at 12:15pm in front of the flagpole.To ride the bus you will need your class schedule and Logan ID. If you have questions concerning ROP classes speak to Mrs. Hart in the Career Center or you school counselor.

  • Congratulations to the Boys and girls Track & Field teams who placed 1st Boys and 2nd Girls at the North Coast Championships. 
  • Hannah Hall- shot & Discus, Joshua Hall-110 & 300 Hurdles, Nathan Francisco 100, Abraham Meza-High Jump, Jared Espanol Pole Vault, were North Coast Champions.
  • The second annual California state high school swimming championship meet was held last Friday and Saturday at Clovis West High School. The top 40 swimmers in each event were invited to the meet. Antoinette Loya went into the 50-yard freestyle ranked 16 out of 40.  The top 16 move on to day 2.   The top 8 make up the final heat.  On Friday, Antoinette swam a lifetime best and dropped from 16 to 8.  On Saturday, she swam the last race of her high school career faster than she has ever gone.  She finished the 50-yard freestyle in 23.50 seconds! She moved from 8th in the state to 6th.

  • Hannah Hall- shot & Discus, Joshua Hall-110 & 300 Hurdles, Nathan Francisco 100, Abraham Meza-High Jump, Jared Espanol Pole Vault, were North Coast Champions.

  • The second annual California state high school swimming championship meet was held last Friday and Saturday at Clovis West High School. The top 40 swimmers in each event were invited to the meet. Antoinette Loya went into the 50-yard freestyle ranked 16 out of 40.  The top 16 move on to day 2.   The top 8 make up the final heat.  On Friday, Antoinette swam a lifetime best and dropped from 16 to 8.  On Saturday, she swam the last race of her high school career faster than she has ever gone.  She finished the 50-yard freestyle in 23.50 seconds! She moved from 8th in the state to 6th.

CLASS (Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores, Freshmen)

  • Hey Seniors!  As we near the end of the school year and gear up for graduation, please make sure to request your graduation tickets.  Please check your email - Mr. Brar emailed you on Monday night.  Or visit the school website - jameslogan.org/SeniorActivities.  It is important that every graduating senior fill out the graduation ticket form and request only the number of tickets they need.  Because of fire code and directives from Union City Police and Fire departments, we are required to limit the attendance at graduation to the maximum capacity.  We will do our best to give additional tickets to families who need more. All seniors must request tickets using the form Mr. Brar emailed them. Students may request up to two additional tickets, which will be given out based on availability. If you need more than five tickets, please know that we will allocate any additional tickets based on how many are not claimed.  Please indicate how many more you need.  At this time you are only able to ask for up to 2 more tickets. We will stream the graduation ceremony live on YouTube, and broadcast it in the Pavilion – all family members not able to participate in the stadium are welcome to watch the ceremony live in the Pavilion (no tickets needed for entrance in the Pavilion). FINAL TICKET LIST WILL BE POSTED ON LOGAN WEBSITE ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 18.TICKETS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED DURING GRADUATION REHEARSAL ON JUNE 10.

CLUB                                                                        

  • The next FCA/Youth Alive meeting will be Wednesday May 25.   The last FCA/YA lunch time meeting is today 5th lunch. Come have some fun and enjoy free pizza!                                    

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Remember to bring your testing ticket and current ID when taking the SAT or ACT tests.  Current ID can be a Driver's License, State ID, Passport or School ID.  School ID must be the actual ID (not a photocopy), and it must be for the current school year.

  • Yearbooks are on sale for $85, $75 with ASB.

  • Reminder to all students that if you’re found selling cookies, candy, sodas, etc. (any item not approved for an authorized student fundraiser), the items and money will be confiscated.

  •  The cafeteria is NOT accepting checks you can make payments on line at www.myschoolbucks.com or by cash.  Balances will rollover into the next school year.
