ACTIVITIES 

  • Prom ticket prices go up today.  Ticket prices are $100 W/ASB and $110 w/out ASB.  Ticket sales end Friday after school.  Tickets will be on sale during lunch and after school.

  •     The Ballet Folklórico dance company will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary on May 16 in the CPA. It will be a two-hour extravaganza with live music, singers, a special guest professional dance company and Logan student Miguel Topete will show of his skills in Mexican "Charro" style roping. There will be two shows 2pm & 7:30pm.  They sell out so get your tickets soon! For tickets ask one of the Folklórico dancers or see Mr. Huertas in House 1

These are two individual presentations and you are invited to attend 1 or both.  Sign up in the Career Center.    
  • Students:  Your chance to acknowledge the teachers who have helped you most is here.  Get a Teacher of the Year nomination form from your house office, a helpful teacher, or your email, fill it out and turn it in by May 8.  Ask your parents to fill one out, too.  Then turn them in to one of your teachers, or place them in the collection boxes in the house offices.

  • Remember to bring your testing ticket and current ID when taking the SAT or ACT tests.  Current ID can be a Driver's License, State ID, Passport or School ID.  School ID must be the actual ID (not a photocopy), and it must be for the current school year!
  • The library is open for after school tutoring! Students who are having difficulty in math or science class (or any subject) can come and get help from a teacher or peer mentor. The library will be open from 3:35 to 4:35 Monday through Thursday.   There will be Ohlone students to help with tutoring.   We are also looking for students who want to be after school peer tutors. If you are interested, please see Mr. Eppler in Room 44.

  • Attention AP Students!  Are you taking any AP exams?  You must attend the pre-administration session on the following dates, either during lunch OR immediately after school in Library Reference Room, based on your last name: Tuesday, April 28: Last Name A – F Wednesday, April 29: Last Name G – L Thursday, April 30: Last Name M – R Friday, May 1: Last Name S – Z.  During the pre-administration sessions, you will complete all demographic information on your answer sheets.  This allows us to start much sooner on exam day, and gives you ample time to finish in a timely manner.  It takes approximately 40 minutes to complete the entire process (please arrive at the start of lunch).  The information is posted on our school website.  From the main navigation, go to Academics, and then click on Advanced Placement.  Again, this is mandatory for all students taking AP exams!

Are you deficient in credits and therefore in danger of not graduating?  If so, it is not too late to turn in your summer school application to your counselor.  Applications are available in your House Office. All applications received after April 24.  Summer school forms will be processed on a first come first served basis, granted there is space available in classes.   •  ASB Elections will start today (Tuesday) and will run through end of lunch on Thursday, May 7.  Vote for your officers at tallyspace.com/jlhs
  • Prom Court nominations will run through the end of lunch Wednesday, May 6.  Top two nominees for each category will be on the ballot at Prom.
  • Powder Puff players please return your jerseys or see Ms. Walton to purchase your jersey for $20.  All jerseys must be turned in by Friday, May 8 or your account will be billed.
  • Room sign ups for Grad Night will start next Monday.  Once you have decided who your roommates will be, please send ONE person to room 67A to sign up.  If you have an outstanding balance, you will not be able to sign up for a room until you are paid in full.

  • PLEASE NOTE: Diplomas are a legal document and may only contain your legal name.  No changes will be made to add nicknames, stepparent surnames, remove names, etc., unless you can provide a copy of your birth certificate or have LEGALLY changed your name & can provide a copy of the court document with the official “Filed” stamp.
  • College in Santa Clara. With over 150 colleges and universities from across the US and Canada in attendance; it is the perfect opportunity to check out the schools that are not in our backyard and to personally meet with the admissions reps who  will be making those all-important admissions decisions. If you would like to be part of either field trip, pick up a permission slip in the Career Center and return them before May 5. Space is limited to 55 students for each faire and given on a first returned permission slip first serve basis.  JUNIORS: Ms. Felipe and Ms. Dutra are taking 110 juniors to this year's SPRING COLLEGE FAIRE at CSU East Bay and Mission.

  • The Ballet Folklórico de James Logan came home with a Championship trophy and $3000 in prize money over the weekend!  Over the past month, the Mi Pueblo Market sponsored a Baile Folklórico competition with many Folklórico groups competing in preliminaries rounds in various cities around the Bay Area. The Logan kids took second at one of the preliminaries but it had the second highest score of all troupes that competed therefore, moving onto the finals this past Saturday in San Jose. Once again it was Logan and the group that finished second to the previous week with us.  What is incredible about this is we competed in an open division. Open division consisted of college groups and adult "professional" dance troupes! It was "David vs. Goliath"!  An incredible accomplishment for a high school group!  This being our 25th Anniversary, it has been a magical year!

Is looking for youth who share our desire to increase awareness of what it is like to have a parent in prison or jail, and to improve services for youth with incarcerated parents.  As a member of Project WHAT!, you will work with a writing instructor to write a true story based on your personal experience of having a parent incarcerated; speak publicly at conferences and workshops (including sharing the story you wrote);  This is a paid job, and you will receive support to achieve these goals.  See Mr. Sills in room 73 for more information

  • Remember to bring your testing ticket and current ID when taking the SAT or ACT tests.  Current ID can be a Driver's License, State ID, Passport or School ID.  School ID must be the actual ID (not a photocopy), and it must be for the current school year!
  • The library is open for after school tutoring! Students who are having difficulty in math or science class (or any subject) can come and get help from a teacher or peer mentor. The library will be open from 3:35 to 4:35 Monday through Thursday.   There will be Ohlone students to help with tutoring.   We are also looking for students who want to be after school peer tutors. If you are interested, please see Mr. Eppler in Room 44.
  • Yearbooks are on sale EVERYDAY during lunch and after school in room 67.  Order yours today.
  • Students you must have your ID cards or a picture of your ID on your cell phone, if you do not have it with you, you will have to serve lunch detention.
  • Students and staff check out the salad bar in the cafeteria.   You will receive a salad included with the price of your lunch. The salad bar has salad mix, Broccoli, Carrots, Cucumber, Red Peppers, and Green Peppers, fruit, Apples, Oranges, Pears, Fruit Mix/ Cocktail, Corn, Green Beans, Garbanzo Beans, Red Kidney Beans and Ranch dressing. 
  • Are you looking for a dress for the Junior Prom/Senior Ball? The Princess Club has a variety of gently used dresses for you to choose from. Come by and check them out Wednesday afterschool at the top floor of the 100's building.  You can also go to room 407 or 507 to schedule an appointment with Ms. Esquivez or Mrs. Bobadilla.
  • Students get paid to share your story! Project WHAT! Is looking for youth who share our desire to increase awareness of what it is like to have a parent in prison or jail, and to improve services for youth with incarcerated parents.  As a member of Project WHAT!, you will work with a writing instructor to write a true story based on your personal experience of having a parent incarcerated; speak publicly at conferences and workshops (including sharing the story you wrote);  This is a paid job, and you will receive support to achieve these goals.  See Mr. Sills in room 73 for more information
