Announcement 1/25/17


  •   Boys volleyball tryouts will be Feb. 6 at 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Al Rod Gym, and Feb. 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Al Rod Gym.

  •  Anyone interested in playing badminton needs to get the try out schedule this week. See Coach Nguyen in room 505 at both lunches for more information.

  •  Boys’ Basketball will be playing Moreau at Moreau for sole possession of 1st place in league Tuesday 1-31-17.  Varsity game only, start time is 7:30pm.  Logan has not taken an MVAL championship since 2002.  Good luck Colts!  Moreau gym only holds 900 people, so this event will sell out. There will be NO tickets sold at the door.  Ticket sales will be first come first serve. Tickets can be purchased at lunch (student window) or during the boys’ Varsity game at home Tuesday night 1/24 and Friday night 1/27.  Price for students is $5.00 Adults $7.00. Remember this event will sell out so buy your tickets early.   Remember, tickets will not be available at the door.

  •  Congratulations to the Logan Wrestling team for beating Newark last Wednesday in a dual meet. The varsity won 64-19 and the JV won 66-6. Come support the team as they dual Irvington at home on Wednesday.  JV starts at 5:00 p.m. and varsity at 6:00 p.m.

  • Congratulations to Aaron Perez for placing at the tough Doc Buchanan invitational at Temecula, along with Joey Ainsworth who also placed at Temecula. 

  •  Anyone interested in trying out for the swim team is welcome to participate in our free pre-season swim team clinic after school at the pool from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Now through February 3.  The only requirement is that your swim paper work and Family ID registration must be completed.  See Coach Lockwood in Room 424.  


  •  Puente Zumba fundraiser for scholarships!  Friday January 27th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Dance Studio.Tickets are $10 and see Ms.Wright, Ms. Hughes or Mr. Huertas in House 3 for tickets and more information.                                           

CLASS (Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores, Freshmen) 

  •  SENIORS: If you or your family wants to buy a dedication space, the last day to purchase is January 27. Please visit ybpay.lifetouch.com to purchase or stop by room 223 for a flyer of prices. 


  •  The Logan Gay Straight Alliance will host a free movie this Friday after school, the Academy Award winning The Imitation Game, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley. The movie will begin at 3:35 in Room 207. There will be free fresh popcorn and soda for everyone. All are welcome. 

  • Come to the BSU (Black Student Union) tomorrow, after school in Room 529.  All students are welcome.

  •  Acts of Random Kindness will meet on Thursday. Check our Facebook page 'JLHS Acts of Random Kindness' and our Instagram @jlhsark for updates! 

  • Bonjour! Come to the French Club meeting Thursday after school in Room 452.  We will discuss activities for second semester. 

  • The Marketing and Management Academy is hosting a fundraiser at Fuddruckers tonight from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  20% of the proceeds will be donated.                                      


  • Students needing waivers for the SAT or ACT need to see Ms. Hull in House 2.

  • Remember to bring your testing ticket and current ID when taking the SAT or ACT tests.  Current ID can be a Driver's License, State ID, Passport or School ID.  School ID must be the actual ID (not a photocopy), and it must be the current school year.

  • SAT AND ACT PREP RESOURCES: Need SAT or ACT Prep resources?  Go to James Logan.Org.to join a James Logan SAT or ACT Prep class.  Click the link at the top of the home page or go to student resources for more information.  You will need your student Gmail account to join a Prep class.  Joining is free, sign up now. 

  • Students the hallways in the Main Building are closed during lunch.  This includes the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s classrooms.  If you need to go across from Colt Court to the 200s or 300s or the other way around, please use the hallway by the library or go around the main building.  The hallways are closed so that classes that are being held in the Main Building are not disturbed during lunch.
